Lehet Más a Politika (LMP), the Green Hungarian EGP member party, has gained additional votes, a higher percentage of the overall vote, and more seats. We congratulate Bernadett Szell and her colleagues on this achievement. During the campaign, an even better result for LMP had at times been expected. It is good that they survived a very obnoxious campaign by the ruling party, but obviously the way towards a powerful alternative in Hungary that does prove that politics can indeed be different... On Jun. 13, South Korea is holding nationwide local elections. For the first time since its foundation in 2012, Green Party Korea candidates will appear on ballot papers across the country. 27-year-old Shin Ji-ye is the Green Party’s provisional candidate for the position of Seoul mayor. This position is seen as one of the most important political positions in the country, where around half of its 51.25 million population lives in Seoul or the areas surrounding it. The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda is pleased to inform its members and the public that it concluded district meetings for party members in Huye and Kamonyi districts on 17th and 18th February 2018. Party members also had an opportunity to elect two parliamentary candidates, both male and female, who will represent those districts. They also elected district committee leaders. Read more
The Green Party hailed today as a historic day for environmentalism in Ireland, after a majority of Dáil Éireann backed plans to ban future offshore oil and gas exploration in Irish waters. Read more
The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda successfully held consultative meetings and trainings for party members in Rubavu and Karongi districts on 28th January 2018. During the consultative meetings, members elected two parliamentary candidates, both male and female, who will represent those districts. Read more

A Global Greens overview of COP23 held in Bonn, Germany in November 2018. COP23 focused on creating rules for implementing the Paris Agreement. The key outcome of this COP’s Fijian Presidency is to get nearly 200 countries to agree to use the Pacific tradition of Talanoa - a process of inclusive, participatory and transparent dialogue - for working through the delicate, and at times contentious, details of implementing the Paris Agreement. "While we await the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report on the pathway to 1.5 degrees Celsius due in October 2018, it is already known that the current impact of countries achieving their targets still leaves us far from achieving the Paris Agreement's goal. The Nationally Determined Contributions must be 'ratcheted up,' as is anticipated in the Paris Agreement," said the GGPA group at COP23. Read more
