EGP 28th Council - Antwerp

The European Greens are delighted to be gathering the green family from across Europe together with our hosts the Belgian Flemish Greens, Groen between 18-20 May in the city of Antwerp, Belgium.

The Groen party are currently represented in the city Council, and have a candidate for Mayor.

We believe the Council will be a chance for us to share our common goals and lay the groundwork towards the 2019 election campaign, including deciding on the procedure to elect the leading candidate, known as the ‘spitzenkandidaten’.

Our commitment for a Green transformation of Europe is undimmed.  We must show that we have the capacity to organize, inspire, and engage around the issues that matter to people today.

The difficulties facing young people will be one of several important topics on the agenda. Across Europe, the youth feel their governments have turned their backs on them.  We can show we are different.

Plastic waste polluting our oceans, the untapped potential of Green mayors, and our vision for the future of Europe will also be on the table.  The momentum is there to show leadership on these topics – we just need to capture it.

Let’s make this meeting between 18-20 May in the historic city of Antwerp our Spring awakening.  Bring ideas, ambition, grit, and a dose of pragmatism, into shaping the Green transformation of Europe!

We look forward to seeing you
