On 27 March 2011, the Greens and Social Democrats (SPD) won a historic election victory in the Germany state of Baden-Württemberg. The Greens for the first time ever emerged as the senior partner in a coalition government. They won 24.2% of the vote against the SPD 23.1% to oust the conservative Christian Democrats (CDU) after 60 years. Following the successful negotiation of a coalition agreement with the SPD, titled 'Change Begins', Greens leader Winfried Kretschmann is the new Governor. He talked to influential German magazine Der Spiegel on 19 May 2011 about his plans for a 'quiet revolution'.  Read more
