2012: Year of the Global Greens Congress

The third Global Greens Congress takes place in Dakar, Senegal, from Thursday 29 March to Sunday 1 April 2012. In the days beforehand, Global Young Greens will hold their third Congress, there will be a Rio+20 NGO forum, and side meetings of Greens from Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas. Together this is Dakar 2012.

Greens and Green-minded friends from around the world are warmly invited to join in making Dakar 2012 the most most successful, inclusive and influential global Green event ever. There are three ways you can contribute:

  • Join:  if you are able to come to Dakar, register on-line.
  • Donate:  we aim to raise 1000 donations of 177 euros (total 177,000 euros) for interpreters, African young Green volunteers, venue and travel support; Green groups and individuals can donate on-line.
  • Participate: be part of the facebook conversation and encourage your friends to do so as well.

Dakar 2012 is our opportunity to address action plans on democracy in Africa and beyond, biodiversity, climate change and energy, green economics and the Green New Deal. Importantly, we will decide on the role, structure and resourcing of the Global Greens. In the lead up to Global Greens 2012, Global Young Greens, progressive youth from around the world, will hold their third Congress, cementing their role and influence. We aim to set the global Green agenda for the coming decade.
