Second Global Greens Congress
1—4 May 2008, São Paulo, Brazil
Think and act globally and locally
_______________________________
The Global Greens is the international network of Green parties and political movements. At our first Global Greens Congress in Canberra in 2001 we agreed on the Global Greens Charter and established the Global Greens Coordination and the Global Greens Network. At our Second Global Greens Congress in Brazil 2008, we aim to take another big step towards building the Greens intoa global political force.
In Brazil 2008, the main focus will be the climate crisis in all its aspects, including impacts on communities, economies, peace and international stability. There will be plans for coordinated action, texts on the Greens’ post-Kyoto proposals, a Green charter for sustainable cities, initiatives on biodiversity and forests, and planning for the next steps for the Global Greens. Greens from around the world are invited to participate.
You can come to São Paolo, participate electronically, encourage your party or group to send delegates, donate so that Greens from low income countries can attend, or give your political support. The future of life on earth as we know it depends on bringing Green ideas into power in the coming decade!
Please help make the 2008 Global Greens Congress an inclusive, powerful and successful step towards this goal.
With thanks and Green friendship,
Global Greens Steering Group
